M.R Industrial Services are seeking an Quantity Surveyor / Estimator with experience in the steelwork/metalwork/construction industry to join a well established and successful steelwork fabrication business based in Corby, Northamptonshire.

An Quantity Surveyor / Estimator is a key figure for the M.R team and will primarily be responsible for the overall success of winning the tenders.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Manage the tender from enquiry through to submission and post tender queries
• Estimating costs for materials, plant & transport, labour & sub-contractors
• Manage several tenders across the UK
• Liaise with internal teams such as design, procurement, and contracts to negotiate and procure works packages
• Allocate hours to tasks
• Prepare and evaluate risk and opportunity
• Arrange and prepare commercial documents for tender handover meetings
• Carrying out basic site surveys in terms of works required to make the project happen
• Weekly progress reports on live tenders
• Reviewing contract of works documentation

Ideal Skills/Experience:

• Several years exposure working with main contractors
• Estimating experience in a comparable construction role
• Able to price/quote steel packages
• Experience with architectural, secondary & structural steel
• Ability to manage cross functional teams
• Ability to adapt to change
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills needed to manage multiple contracts UK wide
• Strong Microsoft office skills
• Ability to communicate (verbal & written) at all levels with clients/architects/structural engineers/sub-contractors/ H&S and in-house management teams
• Willing to embrace the strong ‘TEAM’ ethos of the company
